Teaching at UMA has been the most meaningful chapter of my professional life. I never set out to work in higher education, but when UMA invited me to share my real-world experience with students pursuing careers in health and human services, I found my true calling. What began as a chance opportunity quickly became a passion rooted in empathy, advocacy and the belief that education can be a powerful force for change.

Every day, I have the privilege of supporting students from all walks of life, many of whom are overcoming incredible personal challenges to pursue their dreams. Whether it鈥檚 designing engaging online content, responding to questions in discussion forums, or simply offering a word of encouragement, I strive to make each student feel seen, heard and supported. UMA鈥檚 commitment to meeting students where they are and helping them grow into compassionate, capable professionals is what makes this institution truly special.

I鈥檝e witnessed firsthand how UMA fosters a sense of community that goes far beyond academics. It鈥檚 a place where resilience is celebrated, where collaboration across departments ensures no student is left behind, and where every success story, no matter how big or small, is treated with the respect it deserves. Being part of this journey and knowing I can play a role in shaping the future of healthcare through my students, is both humbling and inspiring.
